I just read....

I just read http://italianhouse.blogspot.com/2007/11/which-villages-are-up-and-coming.html, found it very amusing. The reason why I joined blogspot was to see her/his blog. I would welcome anybody's input on finding builders, craftsmen, building materials in or around pescara Italy. I am in the process of buying a house in Ofena, but need marble flooring, fireplace mantle/surround/or cement blocks to create my own. I need an electrician and a plumber. I still have to make my final purchase so, don't call looking to give me an estimate just yet! I have worked in the building trades in California so I am not a fool.

I bought a home in Ofena, Abruzzo, Italy

I am actually in the process of buying a home in Italy. I was just there a few weeks ago, I had looked in Tuscany and Umbria in 2006, but with the dollar being what it is, I decided to try the Adriatic side. I found a cute house on a site called HouseAdroundItaly.com, went and toured at least 50 properties and found one that felt like home :) It is in Ofena, located in the Abruzzo region of Italy. There are many mountains and ski resorts with a big city of Pescara located on the sea. It felt like home, I have lived in California all of my life, but something about this place. Well it makes me smile. I am hoping to find friends here to share the experience, trials and tribulations along with joys and success.
